The RULES

While we don't require auditions, nor do we have a set "literacy" level, there are many general rules that are to be considered when posting in any area related to the forum:


Rule #1:
Don't be a douchebag.
As with any place...well...anywhere, there's several things to be considered. Like feelings. Some people stick pretty firmly to their beliefs and values, so no going out of your way to anatagonize them. It's just for the sake of keeping peace.

Rule #2:
Leave the bad metaphors at the doorstep.
Bad Imagery will be shot.
...yeah, that one is pretty self explanatory.
They're EYES, not orbs.

Rule #3:
Read the rules set by the board maker!
Though not as important as Rule #1, it's very important to respect the wishes of the board and roleplay you are intending on joining. If they are totally against swearing and smut, well goodness golly, respect their rules! Utilizing this rule to its greatest capacity saves the administrators headaches and leaves them with more energy to roleplay.

Rule #4:
Don't be a douchebag.
It's not that I think you're off your rocker, nor incapable of reading, but this rule...let's just say, it's more important than if you change your underwear regularly...and that's important!

Rule #5:
Chatspeak.
Aside from being generally...eye-bleeding in massive quantities, it mucks up the pretty site. Save us all the loss of blood, refrain from the ungodly, horrendous act of...icky chatspeak. Just don't do it.

Rule #6:
Common Courtesy!
Keep "OOC", out-of-character.
Keep "IC", in-character.
Again, this board is pretty...that's what we're about keeping it pretty.

Rule #7:
Literacy
At Visionary Tales, we welcome members of all literacy levels. As there are places for roleplay searches, it's very easy to distinguish between and find players of your own level. This rule also coincides to Rule #1, someone may not be at your level...but most of us started somewhere, just keep that in mind.

Rule #8:
Don't be a douchebag.
...just don't do it.

Rule #9:
Be Polite.
The administrators of Visionary Tales, they have no lives. None. So maybe they make some weird rules...or maybe they declare Tuesdays are Pizza Roleplaying day...be polite.
Heard the phrase, "Treat others like you want to be treated"?
That's a pretty good philosophy to live by...especially during your time at Visionary Tales.

Rule #10
Plagiarism
While this falls into the douchebag category, we want to be sure that this is mentioned. Lifting entire characters, stealing plots, and otherwise committing acts of theft of other's ideas is very much frowned upon-possibly frowned upon to the point of pitch forks and torches being raised-and not acceptable here at Visionary Tales.

Rule #11
If Spotty can manage to be here 24/7, so can you.
If you can't be here IRL, you better at least be here in your dreams.
Alright, in all sincerity, Visionary Tales does not have an exact activity requirement. If you're going to be gone for long stretches of time, we have a hiatus board for such events. Peacing out on roleplays with out notice after all is a blatant disregard of Rule # 1, no? However, though the staff of VT does not understand the concept of actual lives, we understand that there are individuals that are members of this lovely forum that do have them. We ask that you post as often as you can.

Rule #12
Don't...yup, you guessed it: Don't be a douchebag.
If you're going to waste the energy to rant about something trivial...Visionary Tales really isn't the place for it. As we much prefer keeping peace, many debates, whining, and...complaining, it's not really welcome here. Keep the epic, political, religious, and otherwise sensitive debates for private, just for the sake of respecting the diverse group of members here.

Rule #13
Don't partake in: Harassment.
Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated on Visionary Tales. This site was not created as a vehicle for anyone to threaten, bully, or otherwise stalk another individual. Behavior described here will not be tolerated.

Rule #14
Visionary Tales is for everyone.
VT was created as a haven for roleplayers of all experience levels and ages. However, a certain amount of maturity is expected while conducting oneself in the forum or on the cbox. Don't be a douchebag.

Do yourself a favor, find out who the staff members are. Be courteous to them. Either read the side bar that says "STAFF" or Meet The Staff:

Back talking, being rude, or possessing a disrespectful attitude is absolutely not tolerated. We work really hard to make Visionary Tales awesome. Show us your gratitude for such an awesome site by being kind and courteous to Visionary Tales' staff members.


The Warning Procedure:
We, the administrators of Visionary Tales, reserve the right to ban members from the site for the repeated breaking of these rules.
Should you disagree with the reason for banning, you will be referred to Rule #1.
If you still fail to familarize yourself with Rule #1, you will be banned once more.
Banning for a third time will result in termination from this lovely site.

Activity Clause
While I don't really believe in having a rule where you have to post once a week, or something completely ridiculous like that, I don't see the point of being a member if you join and post nothing.

As a general rule, we would greatly appreciate a post ANYWHERE on the forum once every two weeks at the very least. (Even if it's just in the 10,000 replies thread HERE )

If you join and your account sits for two weeks or longer without a single post, it will be deleted, though you're free to register again. If you're going to be leaving, please utilize the Hiatus board. FOUND HERE

2)An individual who has an over-inflated sense of self worth, compounded by a low level of intelligence, behaving ridiculously in front of colleagues with no sense of how moronic s/he appears.

You've heard the phrase, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"?

Visionary Tales is more than a roleplaying forum. Visionary Tales is a community; staffed by a group of intelligent, devoted, and loyal members, all with the interest of the community and its members in mind.

To ensure the welcoming and positive feel of Visionary Tales, it is important to be aware of the staff members and treat them with respect. The staff works hard everyday to ensure the pleasantness of the forum and common courtesy only benefits and assists in meeting this goal of a welcoming community.

But respect doesn't just end with the staff members. All members are to be treated with courtesy and respect. Antagonizing people, discriminating, and behaving in a judgmental, disrespectful manner is absolutely not tolerated. RL (real life) is filled with enough cruelty, misunderstanding, and hate, it's beyond reasonable that a piece of the internet can abstain from that norm and treat all fellow community members with respect.
