[ooc] |D I'm being lazy by not editing my ooc above. So I'll put something else there, promise. >.> [/ooc]
Today was the day. The day that the world had been waiting for. Today was the day that the Journey for World Regeneration would begin and ultimately begin the flourishing time for Tethe’alla. It was the day that the Chosen would receive the oracle…
The early morning sun peeked into the window and through the curtains, beams of light falling across the room on onto the sleeping figure. She was curled up on the bed, sheets pulled to her cheeks. The sunlight came across her eyes, but she didn’t wake, nor stir. She wanted to be home, sleeping there. But because of the crumpled up piece of paper in her pocket, she was sleeping in this Inn, far from home and on an adventure. Well, not exactly yet.
“HEY! This is for you.” The piece of folded paper was thrown in her direction and caught. It wasn’t often that anything was sent to her, let alone the village. The paper was folded onto itself like an envelope, sealed with a few drops of wax. She peeled back the edge of the paper, the wax giving a ‘pop’ as it released from the bottom side of the paper. Her eyes read across the lines quickly. Once, twice. Although the message was direct, blunt and to the point, it just didn’t exactly sink in. She was doing /what/ now?
‘You have been selected to aid the Chosen of Mana in the Journey of World Regeneration. There will be a room saved for you at the Inn in Meltokio….’
There was more, but…. She was going on the Journey of Regeneration? A big task indeed. A long quest, too. The letter had specified the day that she should arrive and the Inn at which she would stay.
And so, she left that day. Alone, of course and arrived in time to go straight to sleep….
“Sheeena…” A voice called to her. Familiar… “SHEEEENA…” Louder now, and closer… “SHEENA! WAKE UP!” The voice was now in her ear.
“Wha…?”
A little fox with light green-blue tails was sitting on her. “Good! You’re awake.” Sheena blinked. “Corrine, it’s too early…” “No it’s not!” The little animal started bouncing up and down. “You’d better hurry Sheena. The signal could come at any time!” With that, the girl threw off the covers of the bed, burying Corrine for a moment. “Hey!” came his muffled protest, climbing out of its blanketed tomb.
It was finally mid-morning. After finding some breakfast, Sheena stood outside the Inn with Corrine on her shoulder.
“Wh… what the hell?” air caught in his throat, in disbelief at the flames threatening to lick his flesh away. This… this wasn’t how it was supposed to be at all! Shoveling his way through the ash and debris that seemed to carry on for as far as the eye could see, the young man stumbled his way up the hill, crawling over overturned trees, getting as far away from the fires as he could. Despite all of his best efforts, the crimson and amber wave of destruction seemed to follow him, reduce everything in its path to lifeless, gray nothing. Like the eyes of a predator to its prey, he could feel it on his back. The field mouse always knew when it was too late, and Zelos Wilder knew that there was no escaping the talons of the eagle this time.
“You can’t escape your fate, chosen…” his words were as cold as his blade when it sliced through the young man’s flesh. “You knew the consequences should you prove a failure… now you, like all of the rest, must face your inevitable judgment for your shortcomings.” Soon came the second strike, further crippling the redheaded male. “Why you were selected as the herald of salvation for Tethe’alla boggles the mind…” the ivory clad executioner dug his boot into Zelos’ back, tearing and ripping at his hair as it caught under the cleats of his boot.
He was so close to salvation… the church overlooking the sea… if Zelos could just get away from his attacker seemingly born of the flames… he could escape! He could take her… they could leave! There had to be somewhere that the pair of them could go to get away from the shining, scornful eyes.
Zelos…
The young girl’s voice rang out in his ears, seeming to ooze from the distant walls of the church. Mustering up the last of his strength, he managed to break away from the rending talons of the eagle. He just needed to…
Wake up…
“So strong on the surface…” runes alit the earth with every step nearer to his wounded prey, hands beginning to crackles with a gleaming energy not unlike that of blazing azure feathers sprouting from his back. “Yet a coward’s heart hides behind those walls…” the faintest hint of a smirk crossed the eagle's features. “And as such…”
Zelos…!
“Die a coward’s death, chosen of mana. Face judgment.” With arm and blade thrust to the sky, the heavens rumbled and split open.
All that remained was light…
___________
“FUCK!” Zelos bolted up from his place of rest, lavender eyes dancing frantically around the room in a panic, sweat pouring from his brow like rain. It felt as if the young chosen’s heart was going to burst through his chest with every beat. It was so cold in the room… so very cold.
“Zelos… are you okay?” she questioned, concern flaring up in her eyes. This wasn’t a good way for the chosen to start the day at all… not on the day of the oracle. The young woman could only hope that this wasn’t some sort of omen of things to come. That would have been horrible indeed.
Sitting up from the bedside, reaching over and slipping on his gloves, he ran his hands back through his hair, looking like he had been caught out in a windstorm. He looked Goddess awful at the moment, but then again… he always did after a night like that. “Yeah, yeah… no sweat. I’m cool,” he brushed it off with a grin. “Just panicked about being late, that’s all.” He knew that’s why the girl had to be here… normally it wasn’t like him to oversleep when something important was up. “I was having a nice dream about us… too bad it had to come to an end.” He gave the maid a wink, jumping up out of the sheets and heading off to get himself prepared for the day. Thank Martel he was such a good liar. ____________
Amidst the scornful stares on the Meltokian streets, there were looks of admiration as well. They knew who he was, they knew what he was to do today. Some of them were glad that the philanderer was going to be on his way out of town, others would miss the eye candy. Zelos was going to be glad to get away from all the fucking attention for the most part. Sure, death, danger and who knows what else awaited him outside the city walls, but hey, that was a cool trade in his book.
He figured he had a little time before the big lady up in the sky decided to come calling, and that’s precisely why the redhead had decided to pay a visit to a certain someone before they got moving down the dusty trail into the sunset.
…
Okay, so it wasn’t going to be like that. But it sure would have been fucking awesome if it was. “Hey, heeeey…” he laughed, strolling up behind Sheena Fujibiyashi. “If it isn’t just the sex machine I was looking for! Are you ready to get moving today?” Zelos continued with a wink and slight pelvic thrust. Yes, a pelvic thrust. It was like he was trying to get himself smacked. Despite how shitty he might have felt on the inside, he was doing his damnedest to hide it away with his douchebag exterior.
It usually worked too. Thank Martel for those double entendres.

[ooc] This reply will probably be a work-in-progress, I don't know exactly what I want to do and I can't type it all in one go with the limited acess I have here. ^^;; [/ooc]
...
Hell. No.
It was just the person she didn't want to see. but it was inevitable that she would have to talk to and/or interact with him sometime soon. Ugh. This sucks. Well... maybe not as much as she thought it would suck. She responded to his "comment" by stepping to the side and delivering a quick 'thwap' to the back of his head.
Corrine tried to keep his balance as Sheena moved. "Hey!" he yipped, slightly startled by her action. He had to cling to her shoulder to keep from falling. Even though her tried to cling on, he slightly slipped on her shoulder, causing him to qiuckly try to climb back up. "What'd you do that for?"
Sheena glanced from the corner of her eye to look at the little Summon Spirit, before looking ahead again. Her arms were crossed across her chest and she sighed with a little 'hmph'. "So. When is this all supposed to happen?" There wasn't enough time for a reply before (somehow) there was a bright flash of light. "What the hell was that?!"
After the flash had disappeared, she was still sheilding her eyes with her left hand. It took her a moment before she could properly open her eyes and take her hand away from her face. "Damn that was bright..."
“It could happen any minute…“ he too shielded his eyes from the celestial beam that had shot down from the blue. “…now?” There it was… that stupid, glowstick from the sky that signaled for him to be at the freaking church. Oh boy, oh boy… “That, my dear…” Zelos flashed another grin at Sheena once the pillar of light had faded , rubbing the back of his head from the quick smack she’d given him. “would mean that this is showtime.” This was either going to end up going smoothly and without any real incidents, or somebody was going to try and make his life hell.
Well - somebody other than Sheena.
Jerking his head in the direction of the church, red hair flipping up slightly, Zelos started off towards the building. The sooner this was over and done… the better. These pious Martel-freaks weren’t exactly his favorite types to deal with. “C’mon, love, I think our table for two is ready!” he called out back to Sheena, still all smiles. It was like this was going to be one giant game to him versus a situation that put the fate of the world in his hands. The thing was, Zelos couldn’t take this too seriously, otherwise that would just bring his inward depressions outwards, and nobody wanted a depressed, mopey chosen. Nope, that wouldn’t have been fitting of the image he portrayed at all.
Honestly, though… Zelos would have rather gambled with taking Sheena out to dinner and dying that way versus getting ready to go on some sort of long, drawn out journey that was going to end up killing him no matter what he did. At least he had a chance of surviving dinner with the ninja, no matter how miniscule it might have been. A chance was a chance, and once Zelos Wilder got out on the road… all his chances were gone, and no dice rolls or hunnies could save him then.
Strolling his way up the cobblestone steps, he glanced back, just waiting on his "date" to come meet him.
...
She was going to be the one to kill him before this was all said and done, he just knew it. That was okay, though. He'd die with a smile.
