The square hole into the barrow was about eighteen inches on a side. Inside there is a sloping small passage, perhaps a two feet wide and 3 feet high at the most, leading downward. It is quite cold, both in ambient temperature and supernaturally. At the end of the twenty foot passage is a low round room filled with stone coffins. Upon four of them lay the hobbits. They are not moving and are very cold to the touch.

RxNXS is having trouble folding itself enough to fit into the square opening. It begins another search around the perimeter.

Peter reached the top of the barrow and saw the bot, then the small square hole. "Reggie," he called, "where are you? Tell me you didn't go down that hole!"

**Of course I did** Reggie's voice was clear in his head. **I found the little guys!** He jumped up on the nearest coffin, which happened to hold Merry, and sniffed and pawed at him. **They're alive, but they're not moving. They're ice cold!**

"How are we going to get them out of there?" Peter muttered anxiously.

Aisling noticed the strange, angular thing moving around the mounds.  Oddly, it didn't seem to alarm anyone.

"How the heaven did they get in there?" Exclaims Red. The demoness starts pulling away stones at the entrance.

Peter fell in beside Red, doing what he could. His strength was fairly good for an average human male, but he had nowhere near the supernatural strength of the red-haired demoness.

"I hope Longboat can pull some miruvor out of whatever dimension of ass it was that he got the lembas," Leonie said tartly.  "And then maybe I'd damn well better levitate them all the way to fucking Bree."

Despite her bitchy attitude, she helped by telekinetically moving the stones Red and Peter pulled loose out of their way.

Ghostly wraiths appear around the party on the hill. The angry hollow eyes are the most visible, then the skull and claw-like skeleton hands, the rest of the body is gossamer. They are deathly cold and to lock gaze with them is to fall into a stupor of despair.

"Fuck!" yells Red, stepping back and igniting into a burning pyre of naked demoness. "Not more undead!"

A moment before the wraiths appeared, Peter cried out in pain and dropped to the ground, curling around himself, waves of horror sweeping over him before he got ahold of himself, forcing his eyes open to catch the wispy white movements of the ghosts from the corner of his eye. When Red ignited beside him, he squeezed his eyes shut again against the blinding glare and scorching heat.

Inside the barrow, Reggie stiffened away from examining Samwise. **Peter!! What's happening?**

Tikky screeched as the wraiths appeared, all his fur poofing out in alarm.  Tikky dove for the hole Reggie went down, sliding and bumping and yowling.  At he nears the bottom he yells "GHOSTS!"

Tikk's arrival coincided with Reggie charging past the cat, desperate to protect Peter. At the mouth of the tunnel he came to a screeching halt, faced with the overwhelming conflagration that was Red, unable to pass her to get to Peter without being fried to a crisp in an instant.

Leonie luckily had mental wards she had learned at Brakebills which were constantly up unless she lowered them (you learn it quickly when you go to school with telepaths).  She could feel the attack like waves on the hull of a ship, rocking it but not getting in.

However, she was at a loss for what to do against disembodied wraiths.  She was a Physical Kid.  She worked with real things, with crude matter and energy.   Neither a Magic Missile, nor a telekinetically thrown rock was going to be any help here.  So instead, she grabbed Peter under the arms and dragged him another fifteen or so feet from the wraiths and the flaming demoness, and then got between him and them, hoping her mental shields would help him too, although it seemed unlikely.

"Red!  Try to lead them away and I'll get the little guys out!"

Red jumps the 30 feet to the top of the barrow. She leaves behind a scorched patch of grass and creates a new one upon landing. The wraiths stay away from the fire, but continue to circle.

With the doorway framing removed, the RxNXS can now enter, through it is suddenly confronted by a small canine in the passage.

The next thing Peter knew, someone was grabbing him under the arms and dragging him away from the intense heat. He opened his watering eyes and looked up. "Oh! Leonie! Am I glad to see you!"

As soon as Red jumped up and out of the way, Reggie scrambled past the bot and out of the tunnel. **Come on, Tikk!! Hurry!!** Then he streaked toward his sitting human and flung himself into Peter's arms, licking his face frantically.

"Whoa, whoa -- I'm all right, Reg," Peter murmured, hugging him.
