Lapis had her statement put down, not even daring to mention anything about Laurence. Once she was done, she was ordered to go home and take a few days off. As she entered Laurence's apartment, she rubbed her eyes and made her way back to where the evidence was left sitting.

"Well, that worked splendidly," she muttered sarcastically as she stared at the table. She was quick to begin sketching what the creature looked like. She had no idea what it was, or where it came from, but it seemed to be thirsting for blood as one officer was dead and Goldstone's life hung in the balance.

Mrs. Wicky had brought in tea for Lapis, a concerned look on her face.

"Perhaps you should go check on the young lad? After all, the hospital works much faster now an days, he could be out of any treatment by time you get there." Mrs. Wicky suggested. "I'll keep a eye out for Laurence my dear. Here, why not take some cookies to Office Goldstone? Hospital food is still very bland despite their advancements."

A kind smile was on her face as she set the round tin next to her but something told Lapis that Mrs. Wicky would probably insist on this until she gave. The hospital took a while to get to due to traffic as well as distant.  Eventually she'd be allowed into Office Goldstone's room, it was still a sterile enviroment. White mostly everywhere though the man was merely laying there in the bed with slow breathes. It was deliberately slow, hinting that he was awake with his eyes closed. But the sound of the door closing caused him to open them, slowly looking over to Lapis.

"L...Lap...is?" he asked.

Lapis quickly downed the tea before nodding to Mrs. Wicky's suggestion of visiting Goldstone at the hospital. She knew that Wicky would only insist that she went, and there was no point in pointless banter back and forth. After some time, she gathered a few things and took a small bag of cookies with her to the hospital. "Let Laurence know where I am, yes?"

Once she was allowed in, she quietly entered and set the bag on the small side table. "I'm here," she said softly as she pulled a chair to the bed.

"Of course dear." Mrs. Wicky agreed.

The young officer was surprised though he was grateful at the same time for the company he now had.

"What are...you doing here?" Goldstone asked. "I am happy to see you, just a bit surprised."

Couldn't blame the lad for that either, though he was still shocked that Lapis had found her way to the crime scene and to him. The whole thing felt...unreal. And yet real at the same time. With how much pain he was, the medication didn't feel like it was doing much. In fact, it felt like it was rising in one particular spot. No...no that wasn't possible.

Lapis smiled. "I came to make sure you were doing alright," she told him. "How are you feeling?"

Based on how he looked, she guessed that he wasn't feeling the greatest, though she sensed that there was something a little amiss. "Goldstone? What's wrong?"

"Ah...i...i see." Goldstone replied, weakly smiling though he quickly lost that smile as he felt the pain register.

It took him a few minutes to realize what was said next, causing him to stir again. A few blinks left him as he tried to figure out the answer to her words.

"Medicine doesn't....feel like it's doing anything...hurts the most in one spot.." Goldstone answered. "P..probably due to....all the vital stuff in that area..maybe..I don't know.."

Hearing how much pain Goldstone was in, Lapis reached to touch his hand. "I'm sorry..." she said softly. "I wish I could've gotten to you sooner." She gave his hand a gentle squeeze. "Try to get some rest. Hopefully that helps."

She sighed to herself.

“There...wasn’t much to be done I...I think..” Goldstone started, his hand holding her’s weakly for a moment.

However the man tensed and his free hand grabbed at the bandages over his chest, a pained almost cry left him as he arched his back slightly. Pushing his shoulders and upper back into the hospital bed. The machines light beeping increased, becoming frantic and loud as his heart pounded in his chest. Taking in air felt harder and harder, he dug his fingernails into the bandages as a searing hot pain filled him.

“Iffugrgh!!!” Goldstone attempted to speak but his voice wouldn’t work, only a scratchy pained gasps left him.

His grip tightened on her hand for a few moments before he released her. His hand grabbed at his chest and the man attempted to rip the bandages off.

Lapis leaned back as Goldstone began to pull at his bandages. She pressed the help button furiously as he let out pained gasps and saw his heart rate skyrocket. Before she could say anything to the nurses and doctors that rushed in, she was escorted out of the room and left in the hallway as Goldstone struggled in his bed.

She began to message Laurence, begging him to come quickly as she blinked away tears. She hated to anyone in great pain, and not being able to be in the room with Goldstone bothered her immensely.

With the messages flooding in, Laurence was surprised to see it. Still he would message Lapis back that he would be on his way as fast as he could. The large bottle of his medicine was hard to hide as he swiftly made his way back home to drop it off; though he took some of it before leaving. A few coughs left him considering the terrible taste it had on it's own. With this done, he was quickly heading off to the hospital. It still took him a hour to get there.

"I'm here..." Laurence panted out. "Some places are just a maze."

The man would take a seat in one of the chairs outside of the patient rooms where Lapis was stuck having to wait. No one was allowed into the inspector's room at the moment, and different nurse staff were going in and out at random times.

"Alright, tell me what happened. You said he started clutching at his injuries right?" Laurence asked."Like he was trying to just apply pressure there or as if he was trying to rip them off?"

Once Laurence came to her side, she sighed to herself and watched as several nurses went in and out of Goldstone's room.

"Yes..." she said. "He was trying to tell me what happened before he began to clutch at his injuries and tried to rip the bandages off. He could hardly speak as it seemed that he had something caught in his throat." She rubbed her arm. "Do you think he'll be alright?"

Laurence froze as he stood there, immediately pondering his words. So he did reach for the bandages..that wasn't a good sigh. After all the man was in pain but surely at this point they would've had him under painkillers right? Hospitals always did things weird.

"I think so..could be the pain was getting to be too much for his body to handle...." Laurence replied, glancing toward the door that would lead to Goldstone's room. "But...I would like to talk to him in order to make sure of that.."

It was a long shot but...he knew nothing of the creature that attacked the poor booby...who knows what could happen due to it. A sigh left him before Laurence looked to her.

"What about you? You doing alright with all of this?" Laurence asked.

Lapis gripped her hair as she bit her bottom lip. "I'm not fine," she admitted. "What if he doesn't make it? It would be all my fault if..." She tried her best to keep the tears at bay as she tried not to think about worst case scenarios.

She glanced up at Laurence as she held back her tears as best she could. "Please... tell me he'll make it."

She reached and grabbed his hands.

Laurence never liked seeing women cry, it always hurt. It hurt more when it was someone he knew, and Lapis crying hurt a great deal. The man let her take his thin hands into her own, keeping his gaze focused on her and waiting for her final words. Once he was sure she got it out, he'd adjust his hands so he could hold them while she still had his hands in her grasp.

"He'll make it, Goldstone's young and a healthy lad. Never took up a pipe at all, so smoking hasn't damaged his chances thankfully." Laurence told her. "Plus, being a bobby makes him run around all day, that's good for the heart and body. Something that helps him stay healthy. He'll make it."

Deep breathe in, and slowly out.

"Now...there's still a chance he'll come out changed from this. Mentally speaking, he might be on edge and not realize it for a while, anything could remind him of this experience as it is certainly a traumatic one but, he'll need a good friend to help him pull through all the way. Even when he heals physically from it, he'll still need some help. Up for that my dear?" Laurence added, giving her a encouraging smile.

She kept her eyes on Laurence as he reassured her that Goldstone would make it. Even so, she still worried that something would go terribly wrong.

As he told her that what happened to him would change him, she nodded. He told her that Goldstone would need someone to be there for him, to which she again nodded. She returned his smile with a small one of her own. "Yes, I can do that... If it helps him in the long run, I can do that."
