"He's normally far more cooperative than his fellows, he was the one who came in here with this case after all." Laurence reminded.

Pondering over her suggestion on what the next course of action was. Laurence stayed quiet for a few moments before a small nod left him.

"It seems our current course, as hated as it is." Laurence answered, keeping in mind her distaste for that part. "If it makes you feel better, I can do the dirty work."

A smile was on his face at his silly joke.

Lapis rolled her eyes as he uttered a little pun and smiled at her. "You know how much I hate puns," she said as deadpan as she could. "I'll see if I can coax Goldstone to sneak over here shortly." Before she got up, she peeked at the sample again, pursing her lips as she did so.

"Well, I hope we can find something to match this dirt..."

"I'm sure your task will give you fruit." Laurence replied, his smile remaining."Ah but puns can lighten a mood, don't always go towards thing with a sour mood dear. Otherwise you'll miss the smallest of details due to your mind keeping you distracted."

Putting his books back onto the shelf, he could help but keep his smile still. Though now it was a far more encouraging smile than his humored pun caused one.

"We shall find our answers my dear, and we shall solve this conundrum." Laurence assured her. "Like many of our cases, we just need a little more time and more concrete clues. Now, I must wander into the town myself and procure some things besides more dirt samples. We shall meet up here in two hours, yes?"

Two hours seemed like a good amount of time to him. After all, dirt collecting was easy. He had to...regrettably get more of his potion that he had to have last night. As much as he trusted Lapis, he didn't dare tell her that he was regrettably...out of his potion. Which this was the best excuse for him to head into the darker, more supernatural governed areas to get it. The detective didn't wish to put Mrs. Wicky in harms way, even if she had a escort. So he always went alone to retrieve it.

-----
The time was set and once he was ready, Laurence set off. Walking in the opposite direction of Lapis. His walk would lead him toward a dark alley, where he walked to the end of it and gave a swift knock onto the bricks. One brick shifted and a large eye peered at him from behind it.

"Passssssword?" The voice slurred.

"Forgotten are we, those before man." Laurence started. "To be here after man, we shall be."

"Proccceded, child of the forgotten."

The brick was replaced before the wall moved and swiftly, Laurence went in. Sure the supernatural wasn't forgotten but there was a time they were labeled as just stories, forgotten things. Things that were just for story telling and explaining away early humanity's fears of the world they didn't understand. Alright, now to find what he was here form.
------------

Lapis's walk allowed for her to wander the streets, for the most part Goldstone wasn't at his normal spots. She had one spot left to check and what she found was a chaotic scene. A yardies's helmet rested on the ground alongside some blood, though the hat lacked the badge number that matched  up with the man she was looking for. A trail of blood lead into a house in which she could spot a shiny whistle resting on the front steps to it. If she got closer she'd find the whistle was law enforcement produced. These things could pack a powerful punch with their noise, so why hadn't it been used?

Lapis nodded. "Alright. Two hours it is."

Once they separated, she began her search for Goldstone. She traced her steps and moved along what was his patrol, though he covered quite a few blocks. So it wasn't out of the ordinary to not find him in the first few usual spots. A puzzled look took over her features as he didn't turn up after the third possible place he would be. Perhaps he called in sick... which didn't seem like him as he never called in sick. A family emergency, something terrible happened, he got called in as backup...

Her mind was still combing through possible scenarios when she came across a house and a trail of blood. Seeing the hat and whistle, she hurried up the steps and opened the door. The blood trail continued through the entryway into the kitchen where there were splatters of crimson all over the walls. Broken dishes and glasses littered the tiled floor, with a lifeless body pushed into the laundry room.

"Shit..." she muttered, slipping a glove on and pulling out her phone. "Chief, we have a problem..."

"Where are you? You're offduty today, what did you get into?" The chief would question, their voice serious but there was concern in there.

The body on the floor was that of a yardy but it wasn't Goldstone, more than likely the owner of the helmet that rested outside. The house was certainly a mess with all the destruction. Yet the body sported multiple gashes, deep claw marks that almost cut through them entirely; the officer's body was just barely holding itself together.  They were a male though with all the blood splatter on their face and bits of glass embedded in them, their identy was a bit hard to figure out at the moment.

However the sound of something breaking as well as a heavy thud with a pained groan. It sounded like it was coming from bellow, a basement? A cellar? Very possible options. Lapis would find some blood boot prints leading through the house, her trained eye would know these were from law enforcement boots as well. Was Goldstone still in here? Struggling with something?

If she investigated, she'd find his helmet at the top of the stairs that led downward. The badge numbers matched the one that Goldstone used and there were droplets of blood here. Not as bad as the large amount that was through the house. IF she descended further, a loud sound would echo through the room as something inhuman gave a shriek. From her small vantage point, she'd watch as Goldstone was slammed into the floor, a weak pained gasp leaving him as his chest heaved. The energy shield that law encforcement were given was being used, though the blue energy of it glitched and sizzled out as if it was out of power. Which shouldn't be possible. Those things had a energy crystal that rarely got enough use to need to be charged, they were suppose to last two years without a second charge.

The person or...thing that Goldstone was fighting with, was something Lapis might find hard to understand. It was humanoid but malformed, a twisted assortment of limbs with large claws. Whatever it was....it was something nightmarish.

"There's a body in a house," she said frantically. "I can't Goldstone any-" Hearing a heavy thud from downstairs, she pulled out her gun and began to run to the cellar stairs. "There's something here! I need backup!"

Goldstone was slammed into the floor by some heinous creature as his shield fizzled out. "Goldstone!" she cried. She began to fire a few shots at whatever was attacking him, making haste to get to his side before she fired at the creature's chest. Pulling him along, she began to head back to the stairs as fast as she could. She knew what she was doing could get her and Goldstone killed, but she couldn't just let him die like that.

"Address Officer, I need to know where exactly you're at!" The chief ordered. "I can't just send....LAPIS?!"

The chief gave a irritated sigh, sure he could have the call traced and he gave the order to do just that. But that seriously made response time longer than it needed to be. All that needed to happen was for her phone to stay online, it just had to for their sake.

The creature's strange hand slammed into the inspector's chest, causing a pained sound to leave Goldstone as he was pressed against the floor.  The device for his shield breaking and it crumpled into various bits of metal and wires. The creature shrieked as the bullets seemed to hit it and it reared back, giving Lapis the way in to grab Goldstone and start to drag him up the stairs. The man was breathing heavily in her grasp and she'd find he had several cuts and deep gashes though she would soon find herself up the stairs and the creature didn't follow.

As she brought Goldstone up, Lapis quickly gave the chief the address as she looked him over. "Oh, what were you fighting?" she asked, locating some towels and rags to use as tourniquets. Even with backup on the way, she hoped that it would be enough to save Goldstone's life.

"Don't you die on me now!"

Goldstone heaved in a breathe, feeling like things were slowly going numb. Hearing Lapis's voice, they were rather surprised to see her here.

"I don't....know..." Goldstone wheezed out, wincing as pressure was applied to some of the wounds. "We heard....a verbal altercation and...and everything just went to hell so fast..."

The inspector was struggling to recall the entire affair, so much fighting...too much blood than what he was used to. He hadn't seen comrades almost die, he didn't....he just saw the first fellow officer get cut in half. Goldstone seemed to start breathing heavier as that relisation hit him. The man was starting to break, which wasn't a good thing considering his injuries.

As Goldstone began to hyperventilate and panic, she ran a hand over his head. "It's alright. You're safe now. I need you to just hold on. I have help coming."

Knowing the chief and back up wouldn't be able to come fast enough, she decided to quickly dial someone. "Laurence! Laurence, I need you here yesterday!" she said. "Goldstone is hurt and there's something in the basement! I don't know what it is!"

"The shield.....the shield barely endured one hit....it's why Benjamin....Benjamin's..." Goldstone rasped, coughing slightly as he only felt his heart race more.

It took Laurence a bit to respond, though when he did Lapis would hear the rushing of air as if the phone was moving and the person holding it was running. There was the sound of a crash and something breaking.

"My dear, I'm afraid I'm  in a bit of a kerfuffle myself." Laurence responded between a heavy rasp. "Does it look vaguely humanoid yet unreal at the same time?"

Waiting for a answer, there was a loud shriek that even though Laurence wasn't near the thing it came through the receiver loud as day. Laurence winced slightly as he adjusted his grip on the bottle's neck of the large red container that he had gone to get. The clear substance within it sloshed around as the detective wished he had brought a bag.

"If so my dear, I think either there's two of them or yours just teleported into the Hidden section of Old London." Laurence adds.

The Hidden Section of Old London, it was what the supernatural's refereed to their section of the city. Only those that weren't human could get in and even then, it was heavily guarded. A place where those that weren't human would be able to relax slightly, free of some judging eyes. Well...now everyone was freaking out as a strange being was on a rampage.

"Yes, it di-" A loud shriek pierced her ears and she instinctively threw herself over Goldstone. As Laurence sounded out of breath and when he suggested that whatever it was , it had just teleported. Still, she knew better than to try and see if it was still in the basement.

"Well, what are you doing?" she cried. "Get out of there!"

Dragging Goldstone out of the house, she kicked the front door shut and had him lying in the front yard where she checked on his wounds. "Help should be here any minute now. Just hold on a bit longer."

"I'm working on it, unfortunately I have something that I can't afford to just chuck around and have it break." Laurence replied.

Indeed, he needed to get this home and he was the only one who could get it. The chances of another fit were small but it was better to get this while he could. He was actually intending to buy more than the one but things went chaotic with this thing suddenly materializing.

Goldstone groaned and flinched in pain, his breathing was more of just puff of air as he fought the urge to cry out from being dragged. His injuries didn't like it. As he was laid down, his breathes returned to heavy rasping. The sound of sirens would reach Lapis and she'd spotted the tricolored lights that would give the verbal confirmation. A ambulance was behind them thankfully.

The first cop car would come to a halt and out would step Inspector Crown, the man who had been angered by Lapis and Laurence being at the crime scene was replaced by a greatly concerned face. He was quick to rush over to the two.

"What happened? It was just suppose to be a simple patrol!" Inspector Crown questioned.

Lapis remained with Goldstone until Inspector Crown arrived, a look of concern taking over his features. "I don't know," she said. "I happened to be out for a walk and I found one of the officers dead. I had to run in because I heard Goldstone screaming and there was this... thing." She held her hands over her head for a moment, trying to indicate how big the creature was. "It was unlike anything I've seen. I managed to get him out, but the thing must have teleported out or... maybe it's still in the basement. I don't know."

It was hard for her to explain what she saw and what it did, but all she knew was that whatever it was, it needed to be found. And it needed to happen soon.

"What the fuck is this case..." Inspector Crown muttered in frustration, heaving a sigh from his lungs.

Goldstone was picked up and was easily rushed to the hospital. Whether or not he'd make it was up in the air currently, even with Lapis's aid. Sure she did help him and prevented him from bleeding out. But the man was shaken, potientally going into shock or starting to crash due to how much potential trauma he had been hit with. For now it was hard to say.

"Search this damn place!!" Inspector Crown ordered before pointing to a random office. "Take her statement then have her checked."

It was clear he was refering to Lapsis.
