Isao hurried, only to hear his love scream followed by gunshots.
His heart stopped for a moment. He froze in place. No... no... He slipped through the back way. And there he saw her.
"No! Evanna!" he cried. He pulled her body to him, clutching her in his arms as he sobbed uncontrollably. He was too late. He failed to protect her. And now there was nothing left to live for. Looking up, he could only see figures dancing in the shadows.
He closed his eyes, letting them have their chance. "I'm so sorry. I should have protected you. I never want us to be apart again."
His world went silent after one last gunshot rang.

Mei was able to pull their bodies away, posing as someone who was willing to dispose of them. But if they knew she smuggled the most lethal poison she could get her hands on and had it served at Caden's upcoming party, she would have been dead, too.
Of course, Caden wouldn't care about Ryu's death after being gunned down by police. Nor that Chou and Emi chose to stay in Seoul for their own safety. No, Evanna and Isao may have failed in stopping him, but he would soon learn what happened to those who crossed her.
As she had them brought to a mausoleum just over the Canadian border, she wiped a few stray tears as the sky was blanketed with stars. She had her men carefully take them to their final resting place where the star crossed lovers would be locked in an eternal embrace, never to be apart again. She even placed the ring around Evanna's neck on her finger. It was fitting... She had the door closed and she placed a hand on it.
"I hope you two find each other again in another life."
With that, she turned and walked, only keeping the masouleum in sight until it disappeared with the trees and midnight sky.
