Leonie was twitching with unease as Peter agreed to let the hobbits stay.  She sympathized with them, of course, but she couldn't help thinking they were quite a bit more whiny than they had been in the book, at least at this stage.  She squirmed like her pockets were full of fire ants.

"What if we Slide?" she hissed at Peter.  To Sam, she said, "Would you really want to stay here if there was a strong possibility that while you're asleep, this Tavern will go to another world and take you with it and you may never see your home again?"

Sam's eyes widen. "Another world?!" He looks at his companions, tired and haggard. "How can that be?"

Frodo, now standing, steps up. "We need to get to Bree. If this place is temporary, we must leave. No matter how tired."

Peter just looked back at Leonie without answering. Short Slides of only a few hours, like at Ankh-Morepork, were relatively rare, but he couldn't say that the next one wouldn't be in 20 minutes or 20 days. Arguing the point would be... pointless.

To Frodo he said, "Whatever you need. We'll get you a few supplies, whatever Leonie has for you, and just hope we've bought you some time."

"Here, put these in your pockets."  Leonie handed one pebble to each hobbit.  "Longboat enchanted them, I'm sure they'll help you stay safe.  Do we have any ponies we could give them?" she asked Peter.

"I did not know this." Rikerg had never seen a sleeping elf, so he had no reason to believe otherwise. "You may rest, I will let no harm come to you." On the subject of Hobbits he said: "They are too small and soft for this."

They were brave, that much was certain, for they had not abandoned their friends or their quest despite the obvious dangers. But, whatever was after them was far out of their league, and Rikerg was certain their quest was doomed unless they got help.

"I hope your boon will grant them time to find further aid."

The hobbits took the offered pebbles and stepped out of the cell. "You've been more than helpful," says Frodo to Peter and Leonie. "Thank you." He heads for the stairs with his three compatriots trudging behind.

"Unless Red picked up a pony or two at our last Slide, we don't currently have any," Peter said, following the hobbits up the stairs straight ahead, the ones that came up into the Living area behind the bar. "Would you like to see what we have in the pantry?" he asked.

It was peaceful standing in the night just outside the lights of the Tavern.  The humidity and teeming life of the surrounding forest was reassuring; it was so different from the dark fae woods.

Aisling kept her eyes half open upon the woods and the Bard and the Tusked one.

She did some dream-walking, in case some other danger might be approaching.

Sam nodded to the idea of raiding the pantry, and as they topped the stairs he followed Peter's directions. The others shuffled out into the bar.

"We have beds," offered Red when she noticed the hobbits finish strapping on their packs.

"We need to get to Bree," replied Frodo. "We're supposed to meet someone there who can help us."

"Ah," the demoness nodded.
